The 2016 Canadian Indoor Singles Championships starts today at the Pacific Indoor Bowls Club (PIBC), as the tournament runs from Monday October 31st to Saturday November 5th. There are eleven women and twelve men that will try to ear the right to head Warilla Australia to represent Canada at the 2017 World Cup. The Canadian Indoor Champion earns the right to go as this is a direct qualifier.

BC will be well represented once again as returning Champions Pricilla Westlake and Vince Mai will try to defend their Canadian Indoor tittles. Pricilla has been in great form as she is fresh off a North American Championship and Vince has been rolling along as per usual, gunning for another title. Other BC notables will be Hirendra Bhartu who won the Provincial Indoor Championships in April, Along withe Josephine Lee who feels right at home on the carpet as our BC Women’s Indoor Champ. Margo Li, Linda Ng, Richard Yau and Ed Olsen will be the other competitors that will round out the field for British Columbia.

This is the 4th large event that is being held in BC this year, as the Province has already hosted the Canadian Junior/U25 Championships in North Vancouver, along with the Canadian Singles Championship in West Vancouver. Last month the PIBC also hosted the North American Challenge which featured Team Canada vs Team USA.

Best of luck to our Bowls BC players and to the competitors making the journey to the PIBC. Please feel free to wish them luck on our Facebook Page
