To say it was a great experience would be an understatement as Emma Boyd returned to British Columbia with her first International Medal. Emma recently attended the 2017 World Junior Championships which was held at Newport IBC in Wales, UK from December 5th to 8th with players competing from England, Guernsey, Isle of Man, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Also in attendance were Canadian players Erik Galipeau (ON) and Owen Kirby (ON).
The tournament comprised of two portions, the first being a Mixed Triples event where she would be playing with bowlers from around the UK, along with a Singles competition that would follow. She would be teamed up with current World Under 25 Champion Dan Salmon (Wales) and Mark O’hagan (Scotland) to battle through the tough round robin field and make it to the finals and win the final game 9-8, 8-6 in a thrilling match.
In the Girls Singles competition, the schedule of play would be two pools of 5 players, which would have Emma playing 4 games. She would finish with a 1-3 record with a -30 shot differential, putting her in 9th place.
