The Lawn Bowling season is officially underway across British Columbia, and there is a real sense of excitement building at clubs throughout the province. As bowlers return to the green and new members discover the sport for the first time, clubs are reporting strong participation and growing interest in lawn bowls. Membership drives continue to generate.

2026 BC Provincial Men's Indoor Singles Tournament Once again, the Pacific Indoor Bowling Club stepped up to host the cream of our men's indoor singles bowlers. This year the tournament attracted the most registrants ever, with 32 bowlers signing up to compete. The level of skill displayed across the board was world class despite the variance.

With more than 50 family, friends, coworkers and bowlers there to cheer her on, Josephine Lee was inducted into the Burnaby Sports Hall of Fame during the Class of 2025 Induction Banquet on Friday, April 10th at Burnaby Riverway Clubhouse. It was a lavish affair where Josephine and her fellow inductees, Sean Fleming (athlete), Ariana VanDerStarre.

2026 BC Provincial Women's Singles Tournament — March 27-29

The Pacific Indoor Lawn Bowling Club is a world class facility and the only one of its kind in North America. As such it is no surprise that they have been hosting the BC Provincial Women's Indoor Singles tournament every year it has been held.

BC Singles Championships Wrap-Up at New Westminster LBC The 2025 BC Singles Championships took place this past weekend at the historic New Westminster Lawn Bowling Club, bringing together some of the province's top bowlers in a thrilling display of skill, focus, and determination. The Gold Medal winners will advance to the 2025 Canadian Championships being held.

Over the weekend of July 4th - 6th the ladies best Provincial pairs teams came together to compete at the sunshine filled  North Vancouver LBC in an attempt at the title as the provincial Gold medalist. 16 teams came together with great enthusiasm on the Friday and began the competition through the qualifying and seeding rounds..

Men’s Pairs Championships  Throughout the weekend of July 04-06 the Men’s best Provincial pairs teams came together at the beautiful New Westminster LBC for their bid at capturing the title as the provinces Gold medalist. 24 teams assembled on the Friday and began the competition through the modified round robin 6 game gauntlet. Sunday saw 8 teams.

Under the hot sunshine in beautiful Stanley Park, the Provincial Triples were held before a large spectator audience.  There were twenty Men’s teams and fourteen Women’s teams registered.  Each team played a modified round robin championship consisting of five games played by each team over six rounds held on Friday and Saturday.  Sunday saw.

Due to the over whelming support from our bowls community of this year’s Men’s and Woman’s Provincial Pairs, Bowls BC has made a change in the Men’s Pairs hosting club in order to accommodate the large number of registrations. The Women’s Championship[ will still be held at the North Vancouver LBC, however, the Men’s Pairs Championship.

Bowls South Island is proud to recognize these two very outstanding members of the officiating community, Jim Ward (Juan De Fuca) and Mort Nelson (Oak Bay), for their dedicated service to the sport of lawn bowls.

Both were formally presented with Certificates of Appreciation by Dave Mathie, Head Umpire for Bowls South.
