Canadian Youth Championships Hits Juan de Fuca LBC

The 2019 Canadian Youth Championships are set to begin at the Juan de Fuca Lawn Bowling Club in Victoria, British Columbia. The competition will take place from Tuesday August 6 and go to August 10, 2019 and will feature the top youth bowlers from across the country in men’s and women’s Under 18 and Under 25 divisions.

The top four bowlers from each division will be named to Canada’s Youth Development Squad for a one-year term. The Juan de Fuca bowls club is no stranger to hosting top events. The club hosted the 1994 Commonwealth Games lawn bowling event and more recently hosted the Canadian Lawn Bowling Championships in 2017. As one of just three clubs in Canada with four greens, the club is well suited to host this prestigious event.

ABOUT THE CHAMPIONSHIPS: The 2019 Canadian Youth Championships will be held at the beautiful Juan de Fuca Lawn Bowling Club in Victoria, British Columbia. This championship brings the premier youth from around the country to compete in Under 18 Singles, Under25 Singles and the “Forster-Lang” Pairs. The top 4 in each Singles division will be named to the Youth Development Squad for a one-year term.

The winners of the U25 Singles will represent Canada at the 2019 World Youth Championships in the UK this coming December.

The Juan De Fuca Lawn Bowling Club is celebrating over 27 years of bowling within the community and is fortunate to be the only club in BC that has four exquisite bowling greens. The Greens were a legacy from the Commonwealth Games in 1994 which were attended by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The Club has been extremely active hosting many national and international events ever since including the Asia Pacific tournament in 1993, the National Bowling for the blind in 1995 and many National Championships.
